Anneke Hansen (Artistic Director) is a choreographer, performer, and teacher based in New York City. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, her work has been presented in NYC as part of Draftworks at Danspace Project, Movement Research at Judson Church, Dance Conversations at The Flea Theater, La Mama Moves! Festival, Live Arts Collaboration’s Salon Project, and at University Settlement. Additionally, her site-specific work has been performed in New York City parks, Washington DC, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 2006 and 2009 Hansen’s work was featured in The Big Range Dance Festival in Houston, Texas. Her original choreography was commissioned by Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, as a part of the college’s 75th anniversary celebration. As a performer, Anneke has had the pleasure of dancing for New York choreographers Sara Rudner and Susan Rethorst, and for Australian choreographer Russell Dumas, among others. Anneke served as assistant to Ms. Rudner from 2005-2007 in the construction of a 4-hour marathon performance commissioned by John Scott’s Irish Modern Dance Theater, in Dublin, Ireland, and performed in its most recent incarnation, Dancing-on-View: The ICA Variations at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art in 2008. Most recently, Anneke conducted a 30-hour rehearsal/performance experiment and enjoyed a creative residency through Dance House in Dublin, Ireland. A student of anatomy, she is assistant to master anatomist and neuromuscular educator Irene Dowd. In addition to teaching dance in both the US and abroad, Anneke maintains a practice as a private movement instructor in New York City and has taught anatomy at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. Her next work will premiere at The Chocolate Factory Theater in November 2010.
